Read across for wins, down for losses (small numbers indicate ties).

From 1953-1961, the nine conference schools played a seven game conference season. With the mathmetical impossibility of playing seven games by nine schools, it posed the problem of whether one team should play one more game than all of the other schools. It was decided that, on a rotating basis, one team would play eight conference opponents during a season with the first game counting as a non-conference game. When listing a composite record as we have done above, you would expect the wins and losses along with the points scored and allowed to equal one another. As it turns out, during the nine years of the above, there were four non-conference wins (by Central, Harding, Humboldt and Monroe), four non-conference losses (by Johnson, Murray, Washington and Wilson) and one non-conference tie (by Mechanic Arts). These teams scored 106 points and allowed 127. If you add up the above, this explains the difference in both the points columns as well as the team's head-to-head competition. Fortunately, from a statistician's view, this is the only sport in which this disclaimer will appear.
