Welcome all to the first season of the SPPS Girls Lacrosse Bobcats

Team Philosophy--School/Family, Team, Work

We are a varsity team and need to practice that way.  School and grades MUST come first along with family.  It is your responsibility to contact me before a conflict arises and hopefully not 5 minutes before practice (although emergencies happen).  There will be NO cuts from the team.  This year there will not be a JV squad and everyone will get some amount of playing time during the season.  Some people may have to play different positions than in years’ past to help the team be successful.  

The three captains are here to help you.  We will have several college and Blizzard alumni women help us as volunteers throughout the season.  They need to be treated with respect as they are volunteers.  There will be community service opportunities to grow lacrosse for girls in Saint Paul and you are the best ambassadors for growing this sport with youth...please consider participating.

There will be growing pains, learning opportunities, successes and failures and they will make us all better.   You are all a wonderful group of women and I am so honored to be able to work with you for this inaugural season.  

Administrative info

• MSHSL forms due asap…

  • completed & signed 2014-2015 M.S.H.S.L.. Parent Permit and Health

  • up to date physical (only good for 3 years)

  • if you played a fall or winter sport 2014-15 you are GOOD to go for LAX

• cost of the season is $400...many of you put down a deposit of $100 which will be applied to your balance owed

  • Balance due March 27 (Friday before spring break and start of the season)

• Applications for $100 scholarships through SPLAX Association

• U of MN Clinic on Saturday March 7 for any 8-12 grade LAX player, 10:30 am-3pm; $60/player; link for registration and parent consent on the SPPS website

Practices and Games

• Season starts March 30 (yes during your spring break)....so

• Captains practices are CRUCIAL; see the website for dates and times

• There WILL be practice the week of spring break March 30- April 3...see website for times and location

• Beginning Monday, April 6 (after spring break)practices will be 5:30-7:30 at Griffin Stadium Additionally, Saturday practices on--April 11 & 18

• Games will NEVER be on Sundays (due to MSHSL rules)

• We have a game May 22 (Friday before Memorial Day weekend)

• Section playoffs begin Monday, May 25th...with state tournament June 9-13

• Transportation

  • Buses to all games (there and back)

  • a form will need to be completed/signed if you are NOT riding the bus home--no exceptions

Community Service Opportunities

• Try-It Clinics at schools and recreation centers throughout March/April/May
