The Harding Knights are in the midst of a long stretch of wrestling. Facing some stiff competition, the wrestlers have been working on improving every day, and learning some tough lessons in the process.
Harding suffered its first conference loss to the Minutemen of Central on December 20th, 44-30. The match was very close and came down the the last several weight classes. This was the first conference loss in over a year for the Knights.
After the winter break, Harding wrestled Como Park on January 3rd. This also happened to be the first day back at school, so it was a busy day for the student-atheletes. Harding was victorious, 44-30.
On January 5th, Harding went to Hudson High School (WI) for a team-style tournament. Facing some stiff competition from Wisconsin and Minnesota, Harding went 0-4. They lost to Hutchinson, 48-7; Boyceville (WI) 57-21; Hudson (WI), 72-6; and Plainview-Elgin-Millville, 60-19. Several of the Knights were able to face some qualtiy competition, wrestling against ranked wrestlers from both states.
On January 11th, Harding traveled to Irondale. Against fellow Knights, the Harding wrestlers lost 45-30. Despite the loss, Harding was ale to learn from their mistakes. Several of their losses came down to the last few seconds. Todd Fairbanks (195, 12) won in 4 overtimes, and Joe Vue (138, 11) won as time ticked down in the 3rd period.
On January 16th, Harding resume coference play, facing off against Highland Park as well as Minneapolis Edison. Harding was victorious in both matches, beating Edison 52-24, and Highland Park 56-15. Highlights from "Staff Apperciation Night" included Keinnan Thacker (113, 10) recording a pin in 15 seconds.
