DETERMINATION FOR CANCELLING AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
In the event of severe, inclement weather where travel could be hazardous, the Athletics and Transportation Departments, along with the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, will confer to make a determination regarding the status of after-school activities.
If conditions warrant cancellation, the Communications Department will be notified and they will make the announcement to cancel activities through a variety of outlets including traditional media and social media. The SPPS Website would also be used to broadcast this information. If at all possible, this will be done prior to 1:00 p.m.
The exception to the information above is if a team or individuals are involved in post-season activities (sectionals or state tournament). The use of public transportation would then be used so our teams or individuals would not lose by virtue of forfeit.
