As the final month of the season arrives the Eagles begin to finish off a number of "Home and Home" series against conference opponents as well as compete against a wide variety of non-conference opponents.  This past week the Eagles hosted two conference foes, defeating the Humboldt Hawks 44-35 and falling to Central High 34-67.

On Tuesday January 31st, the Eagles hosted the Hawks and played arguably their best half of the season opening up a 22-8 lead at the break.  The second half found the Hawks forcing an up-tempo game and the Eagles failing to succeed in that type of play.  However, in the last seven minutes of the game the Eagles re-established a controlled tempo and closed out the victory 44-35.  The Eagles were led by Desmond Taylor with 15 points and seven rebound and Al Libby who scored 12 points to go along with eight rebounds.  Once again, Kahnen Gbojueh controlled the "paint" area gathering 18 rebounds and blocking nine shots.

Thursday February 2nd the Eagles hosted the Central Minutemen in hopes of erasing the memory of their first contest in early January.  Early in the game the Eagles were able to navigate the Central press defense and establish an offensive rhythym; however, mid-way through the half the Minutemen swtiched tactics and went to a half-court trapping defense which prevented interior shots and forced set shots from distance which the Eagles were unable to make.  The second half found the Minutemen settling into a 2-3 zone defense and quickly transitioning missed Eagle shots into fast-break lay-ups.  While the outcome was 34-67 in Central's favor, it was significant progress over the earlier matchup.

In the coming week the Eagles host the Minnesota Transitions Charter School Woves on Tuesday the 7th and the Knights of Harding High School on Friday February 10th.  The game on the 7th will be a 4 PM tip-off and the contest against the Knights will begin at 5:30 PM.
