ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Middle School Girls' Volleyball Guidelines
- The volleyball coaches meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at 5:15 p.m., 360 Colborne, Auditorium B (first floor).
- Practice for volleyball may begin no earlier than Monday, September 14, 2015.
- Medical examinations are required for all girls participating in interscholastic sports programs. The procedure to be used is the same for all athletes. Contact your athletic director for information.
- Practices shall be conducted five (5) days a week, except on the days when matches are scheduled.
- The National Federation Volleyball Rules will be used, including all modifications as outlined by the MSHSL.
- A matches shall consist of three (3) games (best two out of three). Rally scoring, with the third game going to 15.
- Player's benches shall be located on the opposite side of the floor from spectators.
- Each school will determine its own policy in admitting spectators. Visiting schools should be notified of this policy.
- Both coaches should talk with the officials prior to each match. A level of play may be determined at this time.
- Request to play non-conference games must be made through the Athletic Director.
- The host school shall furnish six (6) volleyballs for the visiting school to use during warm-up prior to the game.
- Coach or school athletic director is responsible for arrangement of officials, scorer and timer for each home match. They must also forward, in a timely manner, the Independent Contractor voucher to the District Office so that officials are paid.
- The results of the match should be called in by the HOME coach to Laura Ranum by phone (767-3490) or e-mail (laura.ranum@SPPS.org) for Website posting.
- Students and coaches are to travel by bonded carrier. Coaches must accompany students on the bus.
MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
DATE: Saturday, October 31, 2015
TIME: 8:45 a.m. -- coaches meeting; 9:00 a.m. start

Format:
- General policy and procedures:
- All teams will play in a seeded double-elimination tournament. If there is a second match needed in the final championships, it will be one game only (played to 25 points).
- Each team will be assigned a twenty (20) minute warm-up period between 8:00 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.
- Each school will be notified by the host coach as to their responsibility for equipment and support personnel.
- Each participant is responsible for their own valuables.
- All equipment is to be clearly marked by each school.
- Players should plan to eat during a scheduled break. Concessions will be available on site.
- Additional instructions, specific to site, should be sent to all coaches prior to the tournament
