ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Wrestling Guidelines

 

  1. The wrestling coaches will meet on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, 5:00 p.m., at Como Park H.S. All varsity coaches must attend this meeting. The senior high coaches will also be meeting with the middle school wrestling coaches on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, 4:30 p.m., at Como Park H.S.

     

  2. Practice starts Monday, November 16, 2015.

     

  3. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Coaches Association.

     

  4. The National Federation Wrestling Rule Book will be followed in the conduct of all matches. Weight classification and all regulations regarding weight control will be followed. The coach should have at his disposal the Official M.S.H.S.L. Handbook and rule book and be responsible to his team for the pertinent information therein.

     

  5. Weight Certification Report: at least three (3) days before the first inter-school meet each school shall file with the MSHSL office and with each opponent the Weight Certification Report. Keep duplicates on file. Failure to file this report in any of the two places will disqualify the school for tournament competition.

     

  6. Competition:
    1. 14 weight classifications (in lbs.): 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285
    2. A wrestler can wrestle at weight or one class above.
    3. See State rules on weight allowance.
    4. One contestant may be entered in each weight classification.
    5. Growth allowance on January 1st will follow National Rule Book.

     

  7. All conference duals should start as close to 7:00 p.m. as reasonably possible when scheduling triangulars or quads on a conference night.

     

  8. The winning coach is responsible for calling in the score to the newspapers.

     

  9. HOME coaches are responsible for calling Laura Ranum at (767-3490) or e-mail (laura.ranum@SPPS.org) with final score for website posting.

     

  10. National Federation Rules will be followed for weigh-in. Weigh-ins will be held at 5:00 p.m. or one hour before the J.V. meet.

     

  11. Scoring for Dual Meets:

     

    Individual Match Points

    Team Points

    Takedown – 2 pts.

    Fall – 6 pts.

    Escape – 1 pt.

    Forfeit – 6 pts.

    Reversal – 2 pts.

    Default – 6 pts.

    Technical Fall (by 15 or more) – 5 pts.

     

    Major Decision (8-14 pts.) – 4 pts.

     

    Decision (under 8) – 3 pts.

     

     

  12. The host school will be responsible for the following:
    1. Responsible adult timer and two stopwatches.
    2. An adult scorer, scorer's table, paper and pencils. The visiting team should be represented at the scorer's table.
    3. First aid equipment for minor injuries.

     

  13. Tickets: adults -- $5.00; students (6 years and older) -- $3.00

     

  14. Chairs or benches will be supplied for both teams during the meet. These chairs or benches are not to be closer than ten feet from the outer perimeter of the mat.

     

  15. The official working the varsity meet will also work the junior varsity meet.

     

  16. Up to twenty-eight (28) All-Conference selections will be made at the post-season meeting.  The Coach of the Year award will also be determined.

     

  17. Misconduct: will follow MSHSL as well as conference rules.


TWIN CITIES WRESTLING MATCH

  1. The conference champion will represent the St. Paul Conference in the Twin Cities Match. In case there is a tie for the Conference Championship, the school that has not participated most recently will automatically qualify.
