Sr. High Adapted Floor Hockey

 

ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Adapted Floor Hockey Guidelines

 

  1. Opening day of practice is Monday, November 21, 2016.

     

  2. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Hockey Coaches Association.

     

  3. Practice Regulations:
    1. Junior varsity squads may practice with the varsity squads.
    2. If you schedule outside opponents for practice games, the schools will pay for the officials.

     

  4. The rules of the National Federation will be followed except as modified the MSHSL in their rules supplement. Any recommendations in these rules pertaining directly to adapted floor hockey will be followed.

     

  5. Misconduct - M.S.H.S.L. This rule applies to all athletes regardless of the team level.

     

  6. Safety equipment:
    1. All members of the team, including the goalie, shall wear helmets when they are playing. Chin straps shall be fastened at all times and in contact with the chin.
    2. The goalie's helmet must include protection for the entire crown, front, temple and back of head. All purchases of helmets for all players must be of the plastic cover-all type approved by the State High School League.
    3. All players shall wear face masks.

     

  7. The team named second in the schedule is the home team and will wear light uniforms.

     

  8. Game arrangements:
    1. The coach will provide the public address announcer, scorer and the press with his starting line-up and a list of his players and their numbers.
    2. The home team will have their choice of goal.
    3. All periods will be fifteen (15) minutes stop-time with two (2) and four (4) minute penalties. If one team has a lead of six (6) or more goals in the third period, running time will apply. Misconduct penalties will follow the rule book on procedure.
    4. In case of a tie at the end of regulation play, one eight (8) minute sudden-death overtime period will be played.
    5. The coach of the St. Paul team, regardless if home or away, will report the game results to the media to promote adapted floor hockey. St. Paul coach should contact John Vosejpka by phone (651-353-1927) or e-mail (johnvosejpka1717@gmail.com) with results of varsity games for website posting on the volunteer athletic site.    Contact the athletic secretary for results to be posted on the district athletic website.

     

  9. All-Conference selections will be made at the post-season coaches meeting.

     

  10. Send team rosters to Dave Mergens at Humboldt High School by early December.

     

  11. Additional information can be obtained from the St. Paul Public School Adapted Athletic Handbook and/or the MSHSL.


JUNIOR VARSITY ADAPTED FLOOR HOCKEY REGULATIONS

 

 

  1. The junior varsity may be composed of students in grades nine, ten, eleven and twelve.

     

  2. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Hockey Coaches Association.

     

  3. Any member of the junior varsity squad may be moved to the varsity for any game during the season as long as the participation rule of the State High School League is not violated.

     

  4. A member of the junior varsity team shall not become a member of, or participate with, a team outside school supervision.

     

  5. Officials will be assigned through the MSHSL Assignment Official. For the St. Paul schools, the home team coach will have the two officials complete the Officiating Services Form provided and return to the Athletic Council Secretary immediately following the game.

     

  6. Time regulations:
    1. All periods will be 15-minute each stop-time or as mutually agreed upon by coaches.
    2. Rest periods will not exceed 7-minutes.
    3. A major penalty will be 4 minutes and a minor penalty 2 minutes.

     

  7. Misconduct - MSHSL

     

  8. Safety equipment requirements are the same as for the senior varsity.
