ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Middle School Girls' Basketball Guidelines
- The girls' basketball coaches will meet on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Harding H.S., 4:30 p.m.
- Practice for girls' basketball begins Monday, November 2, 2015.
- Coach or school athletic director is responsible for hiring the officials for each home game. They must also forward, in a timely manner, the Independent Contractor voucher to the District Office so that officials are paid.
- Medical examinations are required for all students participating in interscholastic sports programs. Contact your athletic director for procedure.
- Practice shall be conducted five days a week, except on the days when games are scheduled.
- Length of quarters shall be eight minutes each.
- There will be no pressing (half or full court) when a team is leading by 20 or more points.
- Each school will determine its own policy in admitting spectators. Visiting schools should be notified of this policy.
- Both coaches should talk with the officials prior to each game. A level of play may be determined at this time -- skill level will be improved only if both the coaches and officials cooperatively work toward that goal.
- Requests to play non-conference games must be made through the Athletic Director in charge of girls' basketball. Closed door policy will apply for non-conference games.
- Only the following personnel should be seated on the player's bench: coach, student coach intern, student managers and student players.
- The home team will provide a timer and scorer. It is the responsibility of each coach to train personnel who are assigned the duties of timing and scoring.
- The team listed second in the schedule is the home team and will wear dark uniforms. All equipment necessary to conduct the game will be provided by the home team.
- The results of the game should be called in by the HOME coach to Laura Ranum by phone (767-3490) or e-mail (laura.ranum@SPPS.org) for Website posting.
- Students and coaches are to travel on bonded carrier. Coaches must accompany students on the bus.
- Medals will be presented to the City Champion at a scheduled school board meeting.
- Optional eight minute quarter, for reserve players, may be played before scheduled game (score will not count towards final score).
