Sr. High Girls Gymnastics

 

ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Girls' Gymnastics Guidelines

 

  1. The girls' gymnastics coaches will meet on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. at Chianti Grill. All varsity coaches must attend this meeting.

     

  2. Opening date for practice is Monday, November 9, 2015.

     

  3. All coaches are encouraged to join the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association for Girls' Sports and the St. Paul Coaches Association.

     

  4. National Federation Gymnastics Rules will be used for all gymnastic meets except as modified in the MSHSL Athletic Rules and Policies Manuals.

     

  5. All rosters are to be faxed one week before the Preview to the host school.

     

  6. Entries
    1. Five (5) girls may enter each event at the varsity level.
    2. Eight (8) girls may enter each event at the junior varsity level.

     

  7. Team score for varsity and junior varsity shall be determined based on the four (4) highest scores in each event.

     

  8. Warm-Up:
    1. 5:10-5:30 p.m.: home -- Bars & Floor, away -- Beam & Vault;
    2. 5:30-5:50 p.m.: home -- Beam & Vault, away -- Bars and Floor
    Touch Warm-Up: three minutes on every event starting promptly with each rotation (3 skills).

     

  9. Order of competition:
    • Rotation 1: home -- varsity vault; away -- junior varsity bars
    • Rotation 2: home -- junior varsity bars; away -- varsity vault
    • Rotation 3: home -- junior varsity vault; away -- varsity bars
    • Rotation 4: home -- varsity bars; away -- junior varsity vault
    • Rotation 5: home -- varsity beam; away -- junior varsity floor
    • Rotation 6: home -- junior varsity floor; away -- varsity beam
    • Rotation 7: home -- junior varsity beam; away -- varsity floor
    • Rotation 8: home -- varsity floor; away -- junior varsity beam

     

  10. Judges and coaches shall meet prior to the meet to discuss procedures for the meet.

     

  11. The floor shall be cleared of all participants prior to the meet. All gymnasts shall march in to appropriate music and both junior varsity and varsity teams shall be introduced - visiting team first.

     

  12. Three (3) judges will be provided for each conference meet / six (6) for quadrangulars.

     

  13. Each school is responsible for employing a seller/taker, two (2) scorers for both levels of competition and may hire three (3) timers/score flashers.

     

  14. The conference championship is determined by the dual meet results only.

     

  15. The HOME coach is responsible for calling in the score. Call both newspapers (St. Paul--651-228-5523; Mpls.--612-673-4447) or e-mail them at preps@pioneerpress.com and preps@startribune.com. HOME coach should contact Laura Ranum by phone (767-3490) or e-mail (laura.ranum@SPPS.org) with varsity and junior varsity results and overall individual winner for website posting.

     

  16. All-Conference team will be determined using the following formula and presented at the post-season coaches meeting:
    1. Eight meets will be used to determine All-Conference honors:
      1. Six dual conference meets
      2. Conference meet
    2. Each gymnast must have five scores out of eight to qualify for All-Conference.
    3. The top five All-Arounds will be pulled out of the individual events.
    4. The next five gymnasts will also be named to the All-Conference team.
    5. The next two gymnasts will be named Honorable Mention.

There will be one judge per event - all events running concurrently.

 

Ribbons - places 1-10 in each event and in all-around. Awards will follow competition. Gymnasts must wear warm-ups when receiving awards at the end of the meet.
