ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Boys' Basketball Guidelines

 

  1. The boys' basketball coaches will meet on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 4:15 p.m. at Harding High School. All varsity coaches must attend this meeting.

     

  2. Practice will begin on Monday, November 21, 2016.

     

  3. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Association.

     

  4. Game Arrangements:
    1. The team named second in the schedule is the home team and will wear dark uniforms.
    2. Twenty minutes will be allowed between games. This twenty minute period will extend from the horn terminating the preceding game to the whistle starting the succeeding game.
    3. Any halftime activity should be arranged through the school athletic director.
    4. The home school will furnish six basketballs to the visiting team for the warm-up period preceding the game.

     

  5. Game Delay Policy: If the time of play in the ninth grade and/or junior varsity games run longer than expected, the game preceding the varsity game will not be called just to satisfy the 7:00 p.m. varsity starting time.
    1. It will be the decision of the coaches to take one (or any) of the following options: reduce warm-up time in the preceding game(s) or cut the halftime allowance.
    2. The following adjustments should be made if games run late: Ninth Grade Warm Up - 10 minutes; Halftime - 5 minutes; Junior Varsity Warm Up - 10 minutes; Halftime - 5 minutes; Varsity Warm-Up - 20 minutes; Halftime - 10 minutes.

     

  6. No student may participate in more halves per season than a number equal to three times the number of "A" games played. Participation in any period counts as one half in administering these rules. No student shall participate in more than three halves on any given day (they may be consecutive).

     

  7. Signs and noisemakers of any kind are not allowed at basketball games. The building athletic director is responsible to see that this rule is enforced.

     

  8. Misconduct - M.S.H.S.L.

     

  9. The official scorer is responsible for calling in the score to the media. The results of all three games should be called in by the HOME coach, contacting John Vosejpka by phone (651-353-1927) or e-mail (johnvosejpka1717@gmail.com) with results for website posting on the volunteer athletic site.    Contact the athletic secretary for results to be posted on the district athletic website.

     

  10. Tickets prices for any conference basketball game will be $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for students. A form of identification may be requested for admission to a boys' basketball game.

     

  11. Coach will show respect for other team when there is a large differential in the score.

     

  12. The All-Conference team will be selected at the post-season meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, 5:30 p.m. at Harding H.S.


TWIN CITIES BOYS' BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

DATE: Saturday, March 4, 2017
TIME: 10:30 a.m. -- Ninth Grade; 12:00 p.m. - Junior Varsity; 1:30 p.m. - Varsity
PLACE: Mpls. site
ADMISSION: adults - $5.00, students - $3.00

 

  1. If two teams tie for the Conference Championship, the entry for the Twin Cities Game will be determined by head-to-head results from the season. If a tie still exists the school that has not participated most recently will automatically qualify.

     

  2. Participating schools are to submit the following information to the Athletic Council.
    1. List of players, uniform number, year in school, height and designated captains.
    2. Names of coaches, principal and athletic director.
    3. Season record (include non-conference).
    4. School colors and nickname.
    5. Cheerleaders (six) will be admitted free in uniform.

     

  3. Additional Information
    1. Game ball will be furnished by the host city. Bring practice balls.
    2. Home teams will wear dark uniforms.
    3. Pep bands will be admitted free in uniform with instruments.
    4. Tickets sold only at the door.
    5. Employee passes will be honored.
    6. Adequate supervision is the responsibility of each participating school.
    7. Signs and posters will not be allowed.
    8. The official scorer is responsible for calling in the score.


JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS' BASKETBALL REGULATIONS

 

  1. The junior varsity team is limited to freshman, sophomores and juniors.

     

  2. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Association.

     

  3. No student may participate in more halves per season than a number equal to five times the number of "A" games scheduled. Participation in any period counts as one half in administering these rules.

     

  4. No student shall participate in more than three halves on any given day and they may be consecutive.

     

  5. A member of the junior varsity team shall not become a member of, or participate with, a team outside school supervision.

     

  6. The team named second in the schedule is the home team and will wear dark uniforms.

     

  7. Games will start at 5:30 p.m.

     

  8. The results of all conference junior varsity games should be called in by the HOME coach or scorer, contacting John Vosejpka by phone (651-353-1927) or e-mail (johnvosejpka1717@gmail.com) with results of varsity games for website posting on the volunteer athletic site.    Contact the athletic secretary for results to be posted on the district athletic website.

     

  9. Misconduct - M.S.H.SL. This rule applies to all athletes regardless of the team level. (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Ninth Grade).

     

  10. There will be no pressing (half or full court) by team when leading by 20 points or more.
 

NINTH GRADE BOYS' BASKETBALL REGULATIONS

 

  1. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Association.

     

  2. No student may participate in more halves per season than a number equal to five times the number of "A" games scheduled. Participation in any period counts as one half in administering these rules.

     

  3. No student shall participate in more than three halves on any given day and they may be consecutive.

     

  4. Two rounds of games will be played. These games will be part of triple-headers involving the varsity, junior varsity and ninth grade teams. The ninth grade games will start concurrent with the "B" game at 5:30 p.m. (except at Central, Como Park, Humboldt, Johnson and Washington where they will start at 4:00 p.m.)

     

  5. Every attempt should be made to play all games scheduled. If, in order to play a ninth grade game, tenth graders may be used.

     

  6. The team named second in the schedule is the home team and will wear dark uniforms. All equipment necessary to conduct the game will be provided by the home team.

     

  7. Games will be played under the National Federation Rules.

     

  8. The home school will provide a timer and scorer.

     

  9. The results of all conference ninth grade games should be called in by the HOME coach or scorer, contacting John Vosejpka by phone (651-353-1927) or e-mail (johnvosejpka1717@gmail.com) with results for website posting on the volunteer athletic site.    Contact the athletic secretary for results to be posted on the district athletic website.

     

  10. Each school shall determine their own policy in admitting spectators. All the schools in the conference should be notified of this policy.

     

  11. Only authorized personnel should be seated on the team bench.

     

  12. Misconduct - M.S.H.S.L. This rule applies to all athletes regardless of the team level. (Varsity, Junior Varsity and 9th Grade).

     

  13. There will be no pressing (half or full court) by team when leading by 20 points or more.
