Sr. High Volleyball

 

ST. PAUL CITY CONFERENCE: Girls' Volleyball Guidelines

 

  1. The volleyball coaches meeting will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015, Noon, at Central High School. All varsity coaches must attend this meeting.

     

  2. Practice may begin on Monday, August 17, 2015.

     

  3. All coaches are encouraged to join the St. Paul Coaches Association and the Minnesota State Volleyball Coaches Association.

     

  4. Each school may play seventeen (17) matches during the school year. The number seventeen (17) does not include the Twin Cities, Sectional or State matches.

     

  5. National Federation Volleyball rules will be used during the season as modified by the MSHSL.

     

  6. Two (2) officials will be provided for each varsity conference match. One (l) official shall be provided for each junior varsity and ninth grade match. These officials will be contracted and reimbursed by the District Office.

     

  7. Tachikara SV5W, Baden and Nike are the official balls.

     

  8. The home team will provide all practice balls and shall provide two line judges.

     

  9. 20 minute Pre-game warm-up consists of:
    1. 4 minutes shared court
    2. 6 minutes visitor on net
    3. 6 minutes home on net
    4. 2 minutes visitor serving
    5. 2 minutes home serving

     

  10. The official scorekeeper shall be designated by the host school and shall be the only scorer seated at the official scorer's table.

     

  11. Conference schedule changes should not be made for a school being invited to an outside tournament.

     

  12. All-Conference team will be selected at the post-season meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, 6:00 p.m. at Central H.S.

     

  13. The HOME coach is responsible for calling in the score. The results of the match along with junior varsity and "C" Squad results should be called in by the HOME coach to Laura Ranum by phone (767-3490) or e-mail (laura.ranum@SPPS.org) for Website posting.
 

2015 TWIN CITIES VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

DATE: Monday, October 26, 2015
TIME: Junior Varsity and "C" Squad - 5:30 p.m., Varsity - 7:00 p.m.
SITE: Mpls. site
ADMISSION: adults $5.00, students $3.00

 

  1. In case of a two-way tie for first place, the team winning the conference match shall be declared the entry to the Twin Cities Championship. If a tie still exists the school that has not participated most recently will automatically qualify.

     

  2. Participating schools are to submit the following to the St. Paul Athletic Office, if requested:
    1. The official squad shall be as prescribed by the MSHSL Handbook for tournament play.
    2. List of players, uniform number, year in school, designated captains.
    3. Names of coaches, one manager and one faculty representative.
    4. Season record (include non-conference).
    5. School principal and athletic director.
    6. School colors and nickname.
    7. Cheerleaders (six only will be admitted free in uniform).
    8. Pep band members will be admitted free if their names appear on the pass list. A uniform will not be required.

     

  3. Additional Information:
    1. Gymnasium will be open at 4:30 p.m.
    2. Two officials and two paid line judges will be provided.
    3. All rules, court specifications and officials, etc., will be as specified by the MSHSL Rules and Handbook.
    4. A twenty minute warm-up will be allowed between matches.
    5. Game and practice balls will be furnished by host team.
    6. Players are to bring padlocks for locking up valuables.
    7. There will be a traveling trophy presented to the winning team at the varsity level.
    8. Signs and posters will be permitted. Schools must remove all signs and posters at the end of the varsity match.
    9. Adequate supervision of students is the responsibility of each school.
    10. The winning coach is responsible for calling in the score.


JUNIOR VARSITY/"C" SQUAD VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

DATE: Saturday, October 24, 2015
TIME: 7:15 a.m. Warm-Up with 8:00 a.m. start
PLACE: TBA
TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR: TBA

 

  1. General policy and procedures:
    1. All teams will play in a seeded double-elimination tournament.  If there is a second match needed in the final championships, it will be one game only (played to 25 points).
    2. Eligibility for tournament - A junior varsity player may not play in more than two (2) games per match at the varsity level during the second round of play.
    3. Each team will be assigned a twenty (20) minute warm-up period between 7:00 a.m. and 7:50 a.m.
    4. Each school will be notified by the host coach as to their responsibility for equipment and support personnel.
    5. Each participant is responsible for their own valuables.
    6. All equipment is to be clearly marked by each school.
    7. Medals will be awarded to the junior varsity and "C" Squad champions.
    8. Players should plan to eat during a scheduled break. Concessions will be available on site.
    9. Additional instructions, specific to site, should be sent to all coaches prior to the tournament.
